Costume evolution of Timon and Pumbaa.
Picture | Years | As seen in | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
1994 - 2015 | Disney parks, and some Disney on Ice shows | Timon's costume is a lot slim with brown toes. | |
2012 - present | Disney parks, and some Disney on Ice shows | Timon's body is given more shape and his thighs are a lot rounder and calves are slightly slimmer. He now has dark brown toes. | |
1997 - present | The Lion King | These are the full-body puppets of the duo used in the touring shows. Timon is orange with a yellow ochre muzzle and belly, and his left eye is larger than the right one. His puppeteered by an actor in green skin and clothes similarly to Big Bird from Sesame Street (one hand operating the mouth, and the other controlling the arm though with a trigger behind his elbow).
Pumbaa is dark brown with a basket-like rump and unveils the actor with a white face and standing hair, and the actor can only move his front legs. This version also has the capability to open his mouth and wiggle his tongue. | |
1999-2002 | Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic | Pumbaa makes his "live" costumed debut resembling his animated counterpart with white eyes. | |
2000 - 2015 | Disney on Ice | This Pumbaa has yellow eyes and green pupils. His tail sometimes appears either upward or downward. | |
2004 - present | Disney parks | An articulated Timon modeled after the 1994 costume. | |
2011 - 2015 | Disney on Ice: Passport to Adventure | ||
2014 - present | Disney on Ice | Pumbaa's legs are thicker like an actual warthog. | |
2019 - present | Disney on Ice: Road Trip Adventures | This version of Timon almost resembles the current park version except that his mask is smaller and unveils the performer's mouth, but the performer's mouth was concealed later on. He has reddish-brown stripes on his body, thighs, and tail.
And this Pumbaa presumably resembles the Broadway version as the body parts are split, though more like the animated one. He is only carried by one skater, and as his hind legs are small, he doesn't skate normally unlike the other versions. |
