The Ballroom is one of the castle's most elegant and welcoming locations. It is large and majestic, and it is here that Belle and the Beast share their first dance to Mrs. Potts singing "Beauty and the Beast". This is one of the most appreciated and recognized film locations because of the fact that it is where Belle and the Beast's friendship and developing romance is most noticeable.
It is later featured in one of four teaser trailers for Lilo & Stitch in which Belle and the Beast enter the ballroom and begin to dance. The camera pans up to the chandelier, where Stitch is seen crawling across the ceiling. He then accidentally knocks the chandelier and it falls to the ground, at which point Belle storms off to her room, telling Stitch to get his own movie.
The ballroom appears being cleaned in the 2002 Special Edition of Beauty and the Beast, during the reincluded musical number "Human Again", in preparation for the aforementioned dance. During which, Sultan, the footstool-transformed dog chases a pillow-transformed cat through the ballroom, creating a trail of dirt that the brooms instantly sweep up which scares Sultan out.
Trivia[]
Due to the Computer Rendering Animation still being relatively new at the time, the animators were concerned about technical glitches. To alleviate their qualms they created a back up program, in which the backgrounds would be blacked out and a single spotlight would be placed upon and follow Belle and the Beast during their lavish dance. They nicknamed this fail safe "Ice Capades Mode."
During Belle and the Beast's dance, the cherubs in the painting on the ballroom ceiling move.
