"A Bad Case of the Barnacles!" is the first segment of the forty-second episode of Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It premiered on November 28, 2012 alongside "Cubby's Pet Problem", and is the first segment of the seventeenth episode in the second season.
Plot[]
Jake and his crew discover that their ship, Bucky, is covered with barnacles. Jake and his crew set sail to Crimson Isle to discover the "Zebra Rose", which will cure Bucky's barnacles. Once on Crimson Isle, Jake and his crew are greeted by Red Jessica. Jake and his friends inform Jessica of their plight, and ask her if she knows where the Zebra Rose grows on her island. Red Jessica points her young friends to the Valley of Roses, to locate the Zebra Rose. Little do Jake and his crew suspect that Captain Hook has come to Crimson Isle to win the heart of Red Jessica. When he overhears that the young pirates are in search of the rare Zebra Rose, Hook decides to take the Zebra Rose as a gift, believing Red Jessica would favor it instead of the red rose he picked for her earlier. As the young pirates make their way through the Valley of Roses and back with the Zebra Rose, Hook manages to swipe it, and quickly soars back to Crimson Castle, with the assistance of his "Whirly-Hook".
Hook and Mr. Smee crash-land right on Red Jessica's doorstep. Much to her surprise, Hook presents Red Jessica with the Zebra Rose. Red Jessica is thrilled, believing that Hook heard that Jake and his crew are troubled with a barnacle infestation, and went out of his way to help them. Jake and his crew soon reach Crimson Castle, where Red Jessica hands Jake the Zebra Rose. Despite knowing what really happened, Jake thanks Red Jessica and even Hook, who is forcing a smile, before rushing down to the dock to cure Bucky. Now without a girlfriend, Hook feels a bit blue, until Smee presents Hook with the red rose he'd originally picked for Red Jessica earlier, much to his surprise. Red Jessica is overjoyed by the captain's sweet gesture, revealing to him that red is her favorite color, and gives him a hug.
