Atlantis: The Lost Empire is an action game based on the film of the same name, developed by Eurocom for the PlayStation console, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color.

Plot[]

(Taken from the Playstation Instruction Manual)

"Strange occurrences, mysterious architecture and tales of mythical beasts have always humankind. How was Stonehenge created, centuries before machines capable of such a feat existed? Who really built the Pyramids? What about sightings of the Loch Ness Monster or the Yeti? The Sea Nymphs that ancient mariners swore could wreck a ship by singing? Some say that the one who discovers the answers to these riddles will have found Atlantis.

According to ancient legend, Atlantis was a powerful empire situated in the North Atlantic Ocean. 11, 000 years ago, it sunk into the sea., taking an incredibly advanced civilization with it. The Greek philosopher Plato was the first to write the story down, in around 360 B.C. Great minds have searched for evidence of the lost empire ever since.

Since he was a young boy, Milo Thatch has believed that this great kingdom once ruled the world. His grandfather inspired him with fantastic tales of the Atlantean people, their strange world, and their mysterious crystals of incredible power. He was sure that the sunken empire existed, and he wanted to prove that Atlantis still exists today, deep within the Earth. But the old man suffered sneers of disbelief from his colleagues, and died before he could prove his theory. Now Milo is determined to prove that his grandfather was right.

To help him in his quest, Milo is deciphering the Shepherd's Journal, a scroll written centuries ago in a strange language. It is the personal account of a man called Aziz who discovered Atlantis at the bottom of a deep chasm. Some believe the journal is the ranting of a madman. But to Milo, each piece of the journal he deciphers brings him closer to the truth.

Join Milo and his team of experts on their expedition to uncover the secrets of Atlantis. Will you discover the mythical empire at last? Will you return with proof that has eluded adventures for centuries? Or will the SS Ulysses disappear into the depths of the North Atlantic forever, adding a few new lines to this ageless myth?

Prepare to become part of a legend..."

Gameplay[]

The player takes control of Milo and the other characters Vinny, Audrey, and Moleire and in some stages also Princess Kida as they traverse Atlantis and stop the evil schemes of Commander Rourke and save Atlantis itself from doom. Some features in the game unlock special features such as a movie for a level by finding Atlantean symbols that spell Atlantis. The characters each have their own unique moves to get through an obstacle or solve a puzzle in the game.
