Dizzy Gillespie with Kermit the Frog on The Muppet Show.

John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie (October 21, 1917 – January 6, 1993) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer and an occasional singer. Although he had no Disney roles, he did guest starred on The Muppet Show in episode 413. It's no strange coincidence, however, that he shared the death date with another Muppet Show guest star, Rudolf Nureyev. When Gonzo plays a few notes of "Great Day" on the trumpet to finish out "The Muppet Show Theme" in episode 510, he quips, "Eat you heart out, Gillespie."
