Richard Percy "Dickie" Jones was an American actor, voice actor, and singer, who achieved some success as a child and as a young adult, especially in B-Westerns and television. His only work for Disney was providing the voices of the titular Pinocchio in the 1940 Disney animated feature film Pinocchio.
Jones was born in Snyder, some ninety miles south of Lubbock, Texas. He began his entertainment career as a young rodeo star before his parents moved him to Hollywood where got small parts in low-budget westerns. His early film credits included Little Men, A Man to Remember, The Pigskin Palooka, Our Gang Follies of 1938, Nancy Drew... Reporter, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
Following his stint in the Army, Jones continued his film career, primarily appearing in western genre film and television production. Such films included Rocky Mountain, The Cool and the Crazy, and Requiem for a Gunfighter. His television credits included The Gene Autry Show, The Lone Ranger, Buffalo Bill, Jr., Gray Ghost, The Blue Angels, Pony Express, and Wagon Train.
He continued to work until his retirement in 1965. Jones was named a Disney Legend in 2000.[1]
