Denzel Hayes Washington, Jr. (born December 28, 1954) is an American actor, film director, and film producer who played Coach Herman Boone in the 2000 Disney sports drama film, Remember the Titans, Doug Carlin in the 2006 Touchstone Pictures film, Deja Vu, Jake Shuttlesworth in the 1998 Touchstone Pictures film, He Got Game, Dudley in the 1996 Touchstone Pictures film The Preacher's Wife and Lieutenant Commander Ron Hunter in Crimson Tide.


  • While his last name was not used, for the first season of American Dragon: Jake Long, "Denzel" was Trixie Carter's celebrity crush. She would constantly call out for him to "wait for me" to grow up so they could get married.
  • Denzel Washington was originally considered for the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace along with several other actors. However, Liam Neeson was cast at the end.[1]
