Christopher Columbus (born between October 31, 1450 and October 30, 1451 - May 20, 1506) was a Genoese explorer, navigator, and colonizer, born in the Republic of Genoa (today part of Italy). Under the auspices of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, he completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. Those voyages, and his efforts to establish permanent settlements on the island of Hispaniola, initiated the Spanish colonization of the New World. Therefore, becoming known as the first explorer to discover America and to prove that the world was in fact round rather flat.

Although, he never existed during the times of movies, his name was used in some Disney movies like Columbus Avenue in New York which was named after him in Oliver & Company and the Donald Duck comic story; The Lost Charts of Columbus and the Goofy comic story; Christophorus Goofy Columbus where Goofy appeared as Christopher Columbus himself. He even made an animated appearance in the Disney 1948 movie, So Dear to My Heart when he was singing Stick-to-it-ivity. His name and that of his three historical ships: the Santa Maria, the Nina, and the Pinta along with a fictious 4th one called the "Snookie" were mentionned by Daisy in the Quack Pack episode; "Pride Goeth Before the Fall Guy". Ohio's capital and largest city was also named after Christopher Columbus. A drawing of him was also seen in the Timon & Pumbaa episode; "Hakuna Matata U.". He was mentioned in the Wizards of Waverly Place episode Retest.
