Catherine Élise "Cate" Blanchett (born May 14, 1969) is an Australian actress who came to international attention for her role as Elizabeth I of England in the 1998 biographical film Elizabeth and its 2007 sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age. She is also well known for her roles as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, and as Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's 2004 biographical drama film The Aviator, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She played Jane Winslett-Richardson in the 2004 Touchstone Pictures film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and played Lady Tremaine in the 2015 Disney live-action fantasy film Cinderella. She also voiced Granmamare in the Disney English dub of Ponyo. She also played Veronica Guerin in the 2003 Touchstone Pictures film of the same name and Colonel-Doctor Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. She also played Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
