The Captain of the Guard is a character who chases Flynn Rider in Dinsey's 2010 film Tangled. He was voiced by M. C. Gainey. While he has an antagonistic relationship with Rider, he is in no way a villain; just a man doing his duties.
He may be the least "fleshed out" character in the film and his role can be considered somewhat minor compared to others. Despite this his persona can be easily examined. He has a strict thought on the law and extremely determined. He has shown to be competent and craves nothing more than the death of Flynn Rider.
Role in the film
The captain is the head of the palace guards who currently spends most of his time chasing after Flynn Ryder and the Stabbington Brothers. Eventually the brothers are arrested but Flynn is still on the move. Accompanying him is his guards and horse Maximus who may actually have more intellect. Throughout the film he and his men chase Flynn and later Rapunzel. Soon enough after returning to the palace, they find Rider and arrest him. When taking him to execution he escapes with the help of the infamous Pub Thugs and in during which, the captain is knocked out by Atilla the thug. He is not seen for the remainder of the film and the finale shows that Maximus has taken over his captain status.
