"Blackout on Bloppsburgh" is the first segment of the forty-third episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on November 5, 2016 alongside "The Robot Thief", and is the first segment of the thirteenth episode in the second season.

Plot[]

A Galactic School day ends, and during the trip back to the Stellosphere, Blodger tells Miles and Loretta about how great the upcoming Goop Independence Day on Planet Bloppsburgh is. The best part is, Blodger got to pick the ideas, and he said to add more lasers for the laser light show. Once back on the Stellosphere, Miles hopes his parents would get them all to Bloppsburgh.

After Miles reunites with M.E.R.C., Blodger's parents then call, with the twins playing with the flashlights. Blodger's parents say that they did a run through of the laser light show. It was so epic that it knocked out electricity all over Goopopolis. The power station's backup batteries kicked in, but those are almost out of juice. With the new parts to repair the damage not coming in time, Bobble announces that Goop Independence Day has been canceled. However, Miles decides for the Callistos to help, as they are good of getting folks out of tight spots. Phoebe says that they'll do whatever they can while Leo gets the mission rover ready. Before the signal cuts, Bobble tells Blodger to stay with the Callistos until the Blopps can sort things out.

Blodger blames himself for adding more lasers for the light show. Loretta tells him that it's not his fault. Miles tells him that the Callistos will tackle the mission together, motivating Blodger.

The Callistos and Blodger then head towards Bloppsburgh in the Star Jetter. Miles has never seen a city with its lights before. With starset coming soon, Blodger wonders what a blackout is like. He bets his parents is finding some way to make it into a party. Blodger's parents then hand out mudsicles to different residents of the planet.

Once the Callistos and Blodger land, Leo tells Miles, Loretta, M.E.R.C., and Blodger to unload his toolbox while he and Phoebe check out the power station. Phoebe and Leo see that the backup batteries are completely drained and the power grid is totally fried. Blodger begins to lose hope about saving Goop Independence Day and its laser light show. Miles decides to recharging the backup batteries. Phoebe sees what's in the nearby area. Loretta sees rushing water from the river, but it's too far away. The area near the power station is known as Windy Flats. No one goes there because it's too windy, and they also get sand in their ooze. Miles and Loretta realize that the wind can make power, like windmills back on Earth. They convert wind energy into electrical energy. Since the Callistos don't have access to a windmill, they decide to call Dr. Z.

Once the Callistos are in the Stellosphere, Loretta finds out that Dr. Z is Tomorrowland's best meteorologist, meaning she knows everything about weather. She also chases storms all over the galaxy. Dr. Z then calls, and knows the Callistos. Miles introduces her to M.E.R.C. and Blodger. Phoebe says that Dr. Z is an old friend from the Tomorrowland Mission Center, and Leo says she's a master inventor of tech that can generate energy using the weather. Leo tells Dr. Z that the Callistos need a device that can transfer wind energy into electrical energy. Dr. Z says that light kites can do so. Miles likes them already. Light kites turn high-speed winds into electricity that can be beamed towards a power station. Dr. Z sends over the blueprints, and before she ends the call, she tells the Callistos that weather waits for no one. Sometimes, you got to chase after it. Blodger and Loretta like Dr. Z's bike, with Loretta vowing to get one if she gets old enough.

With the blueprints received, the Callistos print the light kites with the Solidizer before putting them into the mission rover. Phoebe decides for M.E.R.C., Blodger, and Miles to go with her to take the mission rover to Windy Flats to release the light kites while Loretta and Leo stay in the city and make sure the antennas receive the energy sent by the kites.

Phoebe then takes the mission rover to Windy Flats, and everyone notices the high wind speeds. Phoebe release the kites and the plan seems to work, however, the batteries get depleted once again because there is not enough wind. With a high speed alert, Phoebe returns the light kites that got released. M.E.R.C. sees a tornado, and Miles and Blodger notice. Phoebe decides to retreat.

Miles can't believe the plan didn't work. Blodger says that all of Goopopolis will be blue after this and that the kites can't be sent into the tornado as the wind is moving fast. Miles says that the faster the wind speed, the more power a light kite can make, and tells Blodger that he's a genius. Miles restates Dr. Z's statement about weather waiting for no one and chasing after it. Miles decides for the rover to get close enough to the tornado and drop off the kites. Phoebe approves the plan.

Once Phoebe shows a move she learned at the Mission Center, she drops off the light kites, which, due to the very high wind speed, send enough power to the antennas, fully recharging the backup batteries.

Leo and Loretta then show everyone that Bloppsburgh has been restored of its electricity. Bobble then introduces the Bloppsburgh residents to the Callistos and Blodger, who restored power to the city. Bobble announces that it's time to turn off the lights for the laser show. Blodger does the honors and wishes everyone a happy Goop Independence Day before activating the lasers, one of which looks like the Stellosphere. Blodger is responsible for that, as he is pretty good for lasers. This is the surprise he was telling everyone about, and the Callistos are officially a part of Goop Independence Day. Miles calls this an epic laser light show as another Stellosphere appears.
