"Beyond Good and Evel" is the 4th episode of the third season of Pepper Ann. It aired on September 25, 1999.
Synopsis[]
Moose starts a petition to have Evel Knievel's likeness turned into a statue for Lupkin Park, despite being turned down and ridiculed.
Plot[]
Moose is hanging out with her friends when she discovers that they are removing the statue of Lupkin Park's founder due to newly learned information about his past. Hazelnut will be holding a contest to determine what new statue will replace him and Moose decides on her idol Evel Knievel. When she tells Pepper Ann this, she laughs at her; calling it a ridiculous choice as he is not even from Hazelnut. Moose tries proving her wrong, but quickly becomes apparent that nobody cares for Evel Knievel; even her friend Sean LeSandre is choosing Patrick Swayze instead.
Moose gets some recognition on the news, but unfortunately it is to tell about how stupid her decision is. She is even more demoralized when Pepper Ann is one of the people interviewed. Pepper Ann feels horrible for what she said and teams up with Milo and Nicky to go and search for Knievel who just so happens to live an hour away from where they live. Knievel wants nothing to do with Pepper Ann (he saw her on TV), but she persists and tells her about Moose and needing him to come and talk with her, though he seemingly turns her down.
Back in Hazelnut, Pepper Ann is trying to talk to Moose when Knievel suddenly shows up to give her a pep talk. Even though people called her dumb, that gives her no reason to give up on her dreams. To prove his point, Knievel sets up a stunt ramp over the Pearson house. He manages to clear it, but the breaks are faulty and makes additional tricks before crashing into a family's house. Moose is empowered by the event and continues to fight. Unfortunately, the Patrick Swayze statue is built, but she thanks Knievel for inspiring her.
