Backstage Pass, also known as Inside the Magic: Special Effects and Production Tour was a walk-through attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios designed to demonstrate special effects in movie and television production. Originally part of a longer Studio Backlot Tour that featured more walk-through segments, the walk-through was split off from the Tram Tour into its own attraction around 1991.
The movies featured in the walking tour changed periodically, and when Disney was using the attraction to promote its live-action version of 101 Dalmatians, it included a stop in a re-creation of the Creature Shop. Here, guests were given a demonstration of the animatronic puppies that the Jim Henson Company had designed and built for the film.
The attraction has since closed, but a large sign with the Creature Shop logo remained on the building it resided in until 2011.
