Artemis Fowl II is the protagonist of the 2020 film Artemis Fowl who lives in a giant mansion known as Fowl Manor. He is the son of Artemis Fowl I, who regularly traveled for work and sent him postcards for his fairy collection. After his father is kidnapped, Artemis hatches a daring plan to rescue his father, but discovers that his father was actually part of something much bigger than he ever imagined.

Background[]

Artemis enjoyed studying lessons of fairy folk, but believed that they were just legends. One day, his father disappeared while traveling on the Fowl Star and he began seeing news reports claiming that his father was a thief wanted for robberies around the world. Artemis was shocked and determined to find his father.. He then discovered a secret message from his father which part of him had always believed. With his trusted bodyguard, Domovoi Butler, he traveled to Ho Chi Minh City and found a real fairy, who he tricked into showing him a copy of The Book of the People.

Role in the film[]

Artemis Fowl is introduced exploring the Irish landscape around him where he loved exploring the sea and the land, but not school a lot. During a conversation with therapist Dr. Po, Artemis tells him that the problem he has is that he doesn't respect anyone enough to treat them as an equal and as he tells him about someone who Artemis actually knows which Artemis tells him that he seems to have all the answers for him to tell which Artemis replies to tell him about his biography consisting of his parents which as Artemis continues talking, Po then warns Artemis that he is lashing out at him, asking him if this is the burden of his father's name which Artemis denies, telling him that he has to endure his therapy just as Artemis leaves without finishing the conversation, much to Po's worry. Later, Artemis Jr. approaches his father who tells him stories about Irish folklore creatures such as leprechauns, banshees, sprites, and goblins which hai father believed in these legends just as Artemis Sr. spends his passion with his son on rare occasions when he wasn't at home, but was determined to have his son everything to know about the fairies which might come sooner than anyone expected. Artemis Sr. then tells a story to his son who tells him when he is leaving which his father tells him that he has to do an important thing, due to his father's work coming to an end, similar to how stories having an ending, telling him that when the story ends, a new one will begin, thinking that it would be his son's story just as Artemis Sr.'s son tells him that all he wants is to believe in him. Artemis Jr. suddenly hugs his father before he leaves but decides to keep his son safe for a little longer just before his father leaves via helicopter. As his father leaves, Artemis bids a farewell to his father, telling him that he should always be near.

The next day, Artemis approaches Domovoi Butler, his friend, mentor, and bodyguard just before going downstairs about a news report of authorities sending a manhunt for Artemis Fowl Sr., his father, who is suspected to be behind the theft of various artifacts from many places and hearing about this, Artemis plans to protect his father from danger. Domovoi then approaches Artemis bringing him to safety way just as Artemis feels upset of his father being accused of a criminal just as Artemis gets a call from a mysterious figure who tells him that she has captured his father just as Artemis' father tells him to stay away from the mysterious figure just as the figure replies to Artemis that he stole something from her and hid it, telling him to find the Aculos or he will never see his father again.

After Artemis receives a call from a mysterious figure, he tells Domovoi that the figure is asking for an object known as the Aculos, which Domovoi tells Artemis to get himself dressed just as Domovoi shows Artemis a secret area where his father collected relics from another world which are secrets that his father intended to share with him when the time was right just as Domovoi tells Artemis to look around to search for stories to help find his missing father just as Artemis recaps of what his father told him every night during bedtime before his disappearance just as Artemis finds his father's private journal, The Irish Blessing just as Domovoi tells Artemis to read the last entry of what his father wrote before he disappeared and as Artemis reads a note about the Aculos, he then reads another note which reads, "Time to believe", which he thinks that he should believe in fairies. The next day, Artemis Fowl plans to look for the Aculos using a computer only to find no results of the Aculos just as Juliet Bitler questions on Artemis of which way he could use to find the mysterious Aculos whom Artemis thinks that the fairies will help at with a bit of persuasion just as Artemis recaps that his father wrote a journal of a fairy who would periodically visit the oak tree on the Hill of Tara.

Later, Artemis who is at home contacts Domovoi about the area where his father saw the fairy near the oak tree, telling him to keep an eye out for fairies. That night, Artemis reads his father's journal while his father narrates about his son reading about the rumors of his father and the thefts as well as a darkness that threatens the world. When Holly flies into the Hill of Tara at the area where Domovoi was tasked to keep an eye out for fairies. Artemis Jr. tells Domovoi that fairies are real where she finds a name tag containing Beechwood's name to which Domovoi fires a dart at her, causing Holly to lose contact between Foaly and Commander Root.

In a flashback, Artemis Jr. remembers what his father taught him that where he told his father that fairies are trained in telekinesis, hypnosis, and mesmerism just as he tells his father that humans should wear glasses to avoid getting controlled by fairies. As Artemis Sr. tells his son about dwarfs, he tells his father that they are obsessed with treasure. In the present, Artemis approaches Holly who tells her that he read all about her, much to Holly furious of him putting him in a cage, furious that the other fairies would find out about this. Later at the beach, Artemis talks to Domovoi that the fairies are creating a Time Freeze, which they create so they can operate without being seen via human eye while Dom tells him about the perfect conditions for the attack. Just as Artemis returns home, he takes Holly's equipment while walking with the receiver dish, meanwhile, a group of LEP officers arrive at the Fowl Manor planning to rescue Holly while Artemis tells Som that he will need a suit. Just as Artemis and Domovoi approach a group of LEP agents armed with their weapons, the fairies notice that Dom has Holly's weapon, leading them to attack Artemis only for Dom to fire an arrow to destabilize the Time Freeze.

Artemis later approaches Commander Root, telling him that she is to negotiate with him. Upon negotiating with Artemis, Root tells him that his family has been causing trouble for the fairies years ago. She then threatens to destroy Fowl Manor, telling Artemis to release Holly from her cage, which he replies to her to give him the Aculos, which Root, denies, telling him that she does not pay ransoms. Artemis gives her fifteen minutes, telling her that no fairies should enter his house while he is alive. Just as Artemis returns to Holly after negotiating with Root, Holly thinks that Artemis is outsmarting all fairies which Artemis tells her that his father was kidnapped. Holly recaps that her father was ambushed at the Hill of Tara for stealing the Aculos which Artemis tells her that she read from her father's journal about the Aculos, centered around a tale about a fairy who swore to protect it and the fairy Artemis is talking about is Beechwood, Holly's deceased father who knew how dangerous the Aculos can be and can open a portal between both worlds.

As Mulch Diggums enters Fowl Manor discovering a portrait of Artemis' father and finding a safe behind the portrait, Domovoi tells Artemis that there is a dwarf at the portrait gallery just before returning to Holly whom he rescues her from her cage. Upon freeing her, Holly tasks Artemis to find Mulch who is at the portrait gallery opening the safe to find the Aculos inside, which Holly warns him not to touch it, as it is a very dangerous object to use. Soon as a group of L.E.P.RECON forces deploy the Troll inside Fowl Manor, Artemis and his allies are assaulted by the troll who is causing a lot of destruction inside the house to which during the ambush, the troll falls from high below via chandelier either killed or knocked down unconsciously. Artemis suddenly cries over Dom who is badly injured but is suddenly revived when Holly's officer unblock magic to revive him.

With Dom successfully revived, Mulch gives Artemis the Aculos while Dom tells him to use it to save his father, much to Artemis fearing that it is extremely dangerous to use just as he reconciles with Holly before planning to rescue Artemis Fowl Sr. from Opal Koboi, deciding to use the Aculos. Using the magic of the Aculos, Artemis' father is brought back home just as Artemis Jr. reunites with his father together in Fowl Manor. With Artemis Sr. rescued, his son introduces him to Holly Short, telling her that his father sacrificed his life to save her where it is explained that Beechwood was a hero who gave him a list of Koboi's accomplices which he is unable to pronounce sharing a condolence to Holly before she leaves.

Later in the present, Artemis calls Opal Koboi telling her that she failed, telling her that she was wrong about Beechwood and Artemis Sr. just before Artemis and his father leave via helicopter with Domovoi joining them, followed by the group rescuing Mulch from his prison cell in the Interrogation Unit with Holly flying along to continue their mission to stop Koboi's associates.
