"An OtterBiography" is the 7th episode of the second season of Pepper Ann. It aired on October 3, 1998.

Synopsis[]

Pepper Ann is chosen as the newest wearer of the Shania the Otter mascot costume, which is embarrassing at first, but finds that she can talk to her crush Craig when she's dressed as Shania.

Plot[]

Pepper Ann and Milo come to see Nicky try out for field hockey, despite initially wanting to talk her out of it. While cheering her on, Nicky accidentally sends the ball flying right into the team mascot, Shania the Otter; knocking her out. Coach Doogan calls out Pepper Ann, due to her enthusiastic cheering, and suggests that she be the one to fill in the mascot outfit. Despite her protests, Pepper Ann is forced to be the new Shania. Pepper Ann believes that being Shania will make her a laughing stock, but Milo and Nicky point out that no one will know it is her as she will be fully covered by the costume.

Pepper Ann ends up taking to being Shania very well and gets the adoration of the students. While dancing, Pepper Ann accidentally bumps into Craig Bean and jovially hooks him up with getting more concessions while making favorable jokes and one liners. This event shocks Milo and Nicky who tell Pepper Ann that the Shania costume allows her to be more open with Craig. Believing that he prefers Shania over herself, Pepper Ann continues to meet with Craig in costume and humorously imagines dating him this way. Milo and Nicky tell Pepper Ann that she needs to come out to Craig, but she refuses, especially after bumping into him in the hallway and making a mess.

Eventually, Pepper Ann sums up the courage to speak with Craig once again as Shania. Just as she is about to tell him, a ball comes flying and knocks her down the steps before falling unconscious away from the field. Craig runs up to check on her and Pepper Ann finally reveals herself, only to learn that Craig knew it was her all along. Craig says that it was nice speaking to her and that he hopes to catch up with her later. Pepper Ann is happy to learn that Craig thinks she is cool and then promptly faints, with Coach Doogan shouting "Otter down!"
